Jurassic World Evolution seems to be more cinematically oriented from what we've seen, with a bigger focus on danger and action (again, from what we've seen). "The biggest distinctions between the two games is perhaps what they have to offer. Of course developer Shadow Raven are aware of Jurassic World Evolution, and had this to say on how they were making Prehistoric Kingdom stand apart from the competition: Hopefully sloths and weird squirrel things will be implemented to create that Ice Age reunion we've been after. There'll even be other extinct animals, like saber-toothed tigers and mammoths. There will be mod support, including Steam Workshop support. You can research new dinosaurs and buildings, breed unique animals (and name them too), and craft every aspect of your dinosaur park. Grow jungles, carve rivers and raise mountains across the enormous playable area to create the perfect park for your specimens. Design and decorate beautiful habitats using an array of powerful creative tools. Challenge (Tycoon-style, research, build, manage finances etc), Campaign (pre-built missions), Sandbox (unlimited resources, customisable settings, and all content unlocked), and Staff Mode (take the role of a Keeper in the park!). Take control of limitless power to build, manage and grow the ultimate zoo for extinct animals in Prehistoric Kingdom. The final game will have four game modes. Be warned it's a very rough taste of what the final game will be like, with only four dinosaur types, no real tutorials, and no patrons, but it's certainly the bones of what could be a very interesting game. Prehistoric Kingdom has a free demo on Steam available now. Theme Park Management Game Parkasaurus AnnouncedĮverything revealed about Jurassic World Evolution at Frontier Expo 17 Developer Shadow Raven Studios has announced Prehistoric Kingdom, a more Zoo Tycoon-style take on the Dinosaur Park Management idea - and unlike the other two games, you can play it now. The big one is Jurassic World Evolution from Planet Coaster developer Frontier, mixing perfect developer with the perfect IP, and we're also getting the scrappy, humorous, more Bullfrog-style take with Parkasaurus too.Īnd now we've got a third one coming. Fences, paths, terrain, water and the modular system all support this much needed feature. It's always the way - you wait your entire life for a decent dinosaur theme park tycoon management sim and three come along at once. With undo and redo, no mistake is permanent. There’s a lot of content to sink your teeth into and this number will only continue to grow throughout Beta and beyond. Over 150 new items have been added to Beta (500+ total!) along with over 60 different styles found across a number of modules and customizable pieces. Move, scale and rotate to your heart's content!ĭepending on what trees are toggled in the UI, players can selectively remove certain plants from their painted environments without the fear of destroying everything - very useful for dense scenes like forests. Featuring snazzy new painting and removal animations, players can now paint modular trees directly onto the terrain. Thanks to community feedback, the foliage brush has been completely overhauled. We think a lot of builders will take a quick liking to this feature! Perfect for railings, pillars, beams and more. Place pieces on or within modular grid corners with the new point snap utility. Show your inner artist with modular recoloring! A staggering amount of items are recolorable, with many including multiple masks and patterns. Contextually swap themes, materials and mesh variants at the click of a button! Styling has been reworked for better use and reliability. We’ll be expanding and improving official prefabs as more pieces are added to the game. Official prefabs are also available for those who are less creatively-inclined. With 10 Modules available in Beta, fully custom and interactive buildings are now a reality for Prehistoric Kingdom.īuild and create modular prefabs for easy use in your park and other saves! Share with your friends by uploading your builds online (Steam Workshop support coming later). These can include guest kiosks, dynamic animal statues, animal nurseries, power generators and more. Modules are new modular pieces that provide function and utility within the park. Though modular performance on day one may not feel that different from alpha, it’s far more scalable in the long term. Our previous iteration could not support the full scope of our planned additions, especially when concerning prefabs and performance. The modular system has been completely rewritten from the ground up with efficient render optimizations and feature flexibility in mind.
